Coal stove

A special class of heating equipment are stoves that use coal as fuel. Many mistakenly believe that there is no difference between a wood stove and a charcoal stove. This leads to the fact that the coal stove starts to work with reduced heat transfer and quickly fails.

Features of the coal furnace device

Combustion of coal is accompanied by increased heat release. To maintain normal combustion, it is necessary to increase the supply of oxygen to the combustion chamber.
The maximum temperature reached in the furnace when burning anthracite is 2250°C (this value is achieved only in blast furnaces, in household equipment heating is within 1000°C), fuel ignition occurs at 800°C.
The aforementioned combustion characteristics affect the design and internal structure of the charcoal furnace. There are a few notable differences between a traditional wood stove and a charcoal stove.

The design of the firebox and chimney is different from wood stoves. The firebox has two compartments. Firewood is kindled in one compartment, and coal is laid in the other. As soon as the temperature becomes sufficient, the coal also begins to burn. This is due to the fact that the ignition temperature of coal is too high for a standard firebox ignition.
Charcoal stoves are not very popular today because they are problematic to use. However, coal stoves are one of the most commonly used heaters — and they find use, especially in country houses, summer cottages and cottages.
